Lost Yet Found in a World of Words

They say that the eyes are the window to the soul.

Poetry on the other hand, I see it as the door to one's mind.

It could be written on a variety of subjects; the most popular being love.

Others do it to just relieve the pain they feel inside that no one else could ever understand or they write what they want others to hopefully understand.

I wrote poetry in high school since that's when I really felt a wanting to write for I never really had anyone to talk to about my feelings besides my parents. Although I knew a lot of people, I never really had a "place" for I would always migrate from group to group. I used to always see that as a bad thing, not belonging with anyone for long periods of time, hung out with teachers rather than my own friends or classmates, feeling alone, but in the long run, it was actually the best thing that could've happened to me. I didn't conform to being one type of person, but more of a well-rounded person with a better perspective of knowing more than I ever thought possible. It benefited my understanding of society and broadened my horizons.

One very popular form of poetry, especially in this day in age, would be that of the lyrics to some of your favorite songs. Most would listen to a song just because it's their favorite artist or the beat is really catchy. Those who have some form of struggle not only listen to the music, but listen to the meaning of the words that are sung for they tell a certain story. Love songs are the most common form, but they could be about practically anything.

Back quite a few years ago, I wrote my first official poem. It didn't take me long to write it either, but I was somehow able to find a way with words. That's when my imagination began to really come alive that I never thought possible.

Honestly I never really had the time to write during my high school years since I used music as my getaway, but ever since I started college, it felt like it was the right time.

Now I'm starting to move on to writing these blogs, but if I have the chance, I'll write a poem here and there.
