Welcome to My First Blog
Hello there!
If you're new, my name is Alexis.
I'm currently a 20-year-old college student here in Southern California.
But how did I get here? Through hard work, determination and the loving support of my parents.
As a little girl, I always dreamed of becoming a doctor helping others feel better from any illness they had. Year after year, I worked towards that goal, but in the end, I came to realize that becoming a doctor wasn't what I wanted to be.
Did I just give up? Was it too hard for me? Was it more than I expected? Yes and no.
In life, I know nothing comes easy so no, I didn't simply give up. When I first studied biology in high school, it was something I loved, but in college, that changed. It hit me that being a doctor wasn't my calling. Due to that, I decided to change my major. To what you may ask?
Psychology.
I love helping people and giving advice to those who need it most so I thought, why not become a therapist? I thought this for I have helped quite a few of my friends out of depression/suicide, including a friend of mine out in the UK.
With this kind of background, I thought it was to be my true calling, but I am stumped yet again. Am I still not on the right path?
Lately, thanks to a boy band called Phase Five (who I will soon be doing a blog about later), for about the past 2 years, I have been on social media a lot more than I used to be, and originally I thought it was a bad thing. I use it so much to keep in contact with all the friends I have made, as well as to help promote the guys to others around the world, and honestly, I've never felt happier doing so.
With that being said, that brings me to this blog. Why did I decide to start writing it all of a sudden? Something in my heart tells me that this is part of what I am meant to do (with a little help from my dad as well for the realization of it all).
Without much thought in the past, I have always had a thing for writing, especially about things I love and am passionate about. Far into the past, I honestly had a major dislike to writing. As time went on, I have always liked expressing my feelings to others, but most times, others aren't always there. With that, I had to find a way to be able to express those feelings, and that's how I found it through writing. More specifically, through poetry.
Despite all I have been through to decide what I really want to do, I truly believe I am leaning towards the right choice, but only time will tell.....
