Lost Yet Found in a World of Words

Image
They say that the eyes are the window to the soul. Poetry on the other hand, I see it as the door to one's mind. It could be written on a variety of subjects; the most popular being love. Others do it to just relieve the pain they feel inside that no one else could ever understand or they write what they want others to hopefully understand. _______________________________________________________________ I wrote poetry in high school since that's when I really felt a wanting to write for I never really had anyone to talk to about my feelings besides my parents. Although I knew a lot of people, I never really had a " place " for I would always migrate from group to group. I used to always see that as a bad thing, not belonging with anyone for long periods of time, hung out with teachers rather than my own friends or classmates, feeling alone, but in the long run, it was actual...

Family is Everything

Many people have objects that they cherish most such as a book, a charm, or even a stuffed animal. For me, it's not just one simple thing. For me, family is everything . By family, I don't necessarily mean just the people I'm blood-related to. As many may not know, I am an only child. Being an only child can have its pros as well as its cons. Living with just my parents sometimes felt like what some would say "lonely", but I actually grew to love it. Yes I sometimes wish I had a sibling or two, but my closest friends became the siblings I never had. You get to have fun with them when you can, but you don't get constantly "annoyed" in their presence. ðŸ˜‰ Or like me, maybe you do because they love you that much. I've never felt more blessed to have the parents I have now. They've been through so much in their lives that they teach me to better mine. They're hardworking, disciplined, trustworthy, educated, and...

Roller Coasters Get Me Twisted

Image
This past weekend, the guys of Phase Five spent time in Florida for the 6th Annual Playlist Live. Upon the end, they had enough time to go visit the famous amusement parks of Universal Studios Orlando and Disney World.                              Those are two of the places I really want to visit if I'm ever in Florida (which will probably be a while, but funny that I almost went to college there). Not only do I want to enjoy everything they have to offer, but I also want to compare the two parks to the ones here in Southern California. I have heard that the ones in Florida are bigger (and possibly better) than down here, but I'd have to find that out for myself. Although it sounds like an awesome, exciting adventure, there's one teeny, tiny problem. Roller coasters. They are definitely NOT my friend. Just thinking about it, each park consists of probably 80% of them. Well t...

Welcome to My First Blog

Hello there! If you're new, my name is Alexis. I'm currently a 20-year-old college student here in Southern California. But how did I get here? Through hard work, determination and the loving support of my parents. As a little girl, I always dreamed of becoming a doctor helping others feel better from any illness they had. Year after year, I worked towards that goal, but in the end, I came to realize that becoming a doctor wasn't what I wanted to be. Did I just give up? Was it too hard for me? Was it more than I expected? Yes and no. In life, I know nothing comes easy so no, I didn't simply give up. When I first studied biology in high school, it was something I loved, but in college, that changed. It hit me that being a doctor wasn't my calling. Due to that, I decided to change my major. To what you may ask? Psychology. I love helping people and giving advice to those who need it most so I thought, why not become a therapist? I thought this for I ha...
